Most silver mined in the world comes from the U.S., Australia, Canada, Peru and Mexico. In the U.S. silver is mined in Nevada, Idaho, Montana and Idaho.

Sterling silver is .925 percent silver and 75 percent copper for hardness. Until 1965 in the U.S. coin silver was 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper.
